The Georg Fischer malleable cast iron plug with hole in square head type 294 provides a dependable, pressure-tight termination for threaded pipe branches while enabling mechanical locking and tamper verification. Manufactured from decarburised annealed whiteheart malleable cast iron grade EN-GJMW-400-5 in accordance with EN 1562 and Design Symbol A, the component offers outstanding structural integrity, high tensile strength, and impact resistance in demanding industrial, heating, gas, and potable water networks. The fitting is engineered with an external taper pipe thread R conforming to EN 10226-1 and ISO 7-1, featuring a 1:16 thread taper that achieves metal-to-metal flank compression within mating female Rp parallel threads, ensuring leak-proof sealing when engaged with suitable jointing media. A solid external square head allows positive engagement with standard open-ended or adjustable wrenches for accurate torque application during installation and maintenance. The defining feature of type 294 is the transverse through-hole drilled through the square drive head, designed specifically to accommodate locking wires, security seals, tamper-evident lead ties, or mechanical tethers that prevent accidental backing out from system vibrations or unauthorized access in regulated utility lines. Depending on the environment, the fitting is supplied either with a black protective coating or with a high-purity hot-dip galvanised zinc finish in compliance with EN 10242 and DIN 50930-6 requirements for hygienic drinking water safety. Engineered for operating pressures up to 25 bar at working temperatures between -20 degrees Celsius and 120 degrees Celsius, and up to 20 bar at 300 degrees Celsius, the plug ensures long-term operational dependability across commercial and industrial fluid distribution systems.
