The Georg Fischer malleable iron plug plain solid 291a provides an engineered, permanent pipe-end closure designed to isolate and seal parallel female-threaded outlets in demanding industrial process lines, thermal distribution networks, gas pipelines, and fire protection systems. Cast from high-grade decarburised annealed whiteheart malleable cast iron EN-GJMW-400-5 according to EN 10242 and ISO 49 (Design Symbol A), the solid-core plug eliminates internal voids to ensure maximum mechanical strength and structural reliability under high pressure. Sealing is established through an external taper thread R engineered in strict compliance with EN 10226-1 and ISO 7-1, featuring a 1:16 taper ratio that generates radial metal-to-metal contact and wedging compression against mating internal parallel Rp threads when paired with thread sealing tape or paste. For precise torque transmission and controlled assembly in tight piping clearances, the fitting integrates a solid external square drive head across all nominal sizes from 3/4 inch to 2 inch, accommodating standard spanner widths from 17 mm to 27 mm. Mechanical pressure containment is rated up to 25 bar for fluid and gas temperatures between -20 degrees Celsius and 120 degrees Celsius, with an operational rating of 20 bar up to 300 degrees Celsius. Available with a standard black finish or a protective hot-dip galvanised coating applied in compliance with EN 10242 drinking water requirements, the component resists aggressive mechanical stresses, vibration, and thermal expansion across potable water, industrial cooling, hydrocarbon gas, and FM-certified sprinkler pipeline installations.
