The Georg Fischer (GF Piping Systems) ecoFIT socket fusion coupler is an equal socket moulded in PE80 for jointing polyethylene pipework in industrial pressure distribution. The range covers nominal outside diameters from d20 to d110 (DN15 to DN100), is rated PN10 at 20 degrees C and built to an SDR11 wall ratio, so the welded joint carries the same pressure as the pipe it connects.

Socket fusion heats the inner face of the coupler socket and the outer surface of the prepared pipe end simultaneously with calibrated welding tools, before the two parts are pushed together. The machined internal stop and the close socket tolerances of the ecoFIT body control the melt pool and the interference fit, producing a homogeneous, permanent and leak-tight connection that transfers mechanical load across the joint.

Dimensions are fixed across the range: external body diameter (Do) runs from 31 mm at d20 to 134 mm at d110, maximum fitting length (Lmax) from 35 mm to 96 mm, and insertion depth (z) from 7 mm to 14 mm. Component weight ranges from 0.014 kg on the d20 size to 0.419 kg on the d110. The fittings are manufactured to DIN standards by Georg Fischer.

Virgin PE80 gives high resistance to aggressive chemical solutions, industrial process fluids and scaling, while the smooth bore keeps pressure loss low and prevents sediment deposition. The coupler is fully compatible with the rest of the ecoFIT PE socket fusion fitting range and is used in water treatment plants, cooling circuits, chemical dosing networks and utility installations where metallic piping fails through corrosion.
