The Georg Fischer ecoFIT PE80 socket fusion end cap is a pipe termination fitting that provides a permanent, leak-tight closure on pressurised polyethylene piping. Moulded in PE80, it combines chemical resistance with structural stability at working pressures up to PN10 (10 bar at a reference temperature of 20 degrees C) on an SDR11 wall ratio, and covers nominal outside diameters from d20 to d110 mm (DN15 to DN100) for isolating or dead-ending utility and process lines.

Socket fusion creates a homogeneous, monolithic bond between the pipe spigot and the internal socket of the cap, so there is no mechanical leak path and no stress concentration at the joint. The precision-moulded socket geometry gives uniform heat transfer on the welding tool and controlled melt flow during insertion, which keeps weld quality repeatable across every size on site.

Across the nine dimensions available (d20, d25, d32, d40, d50, d63, d75, d90 and d110) the external cap diameter runs from 30 mm to 137 mm and the overall component length from 27 mm to 93 mm. The cap is fully compatible with Georg Fischer ecoFIT SDR11 and SDR17.6 PE pipes and socket fusion fittings, so it integrates into new networks and extensions of existing installations without adaptors.

PE80 tolerates aggressive industrial media, saline solutions and industrial wastewater, and absorbs pressure surges and mechanical impact rather than cracking. Because the thermoplastic does not corrode, scale or pit, closed ends stay maintenance-free over a long service life, including in humid or chemically loaded ambient conditions where metal plugs degrade. Typical duties include chemical processing, industrial cooling circuits, water treatment plants, vacuum lines and swimming pool piping.
