The Georg Fischer (GF Piping Systems) ABS barrel nipple is an engineered plain spigot connector developed for direct, space-saving solvent cement jointing between adjacent female socket fittings, valves and flow components. Its overall length equals twice the nominal socket insertion depth (L = 2 x socket length), which achieves the absolute minimum constructive distance between pipeline assemblies. It is an essential element for modular process skids, chiller manifolds and dense valve clusters where spatial constraints prevent the use of pipe cut lengths. Manufactured from high-impact Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (RAL 7001 gravel grey for metric sizes and classic grey for inch sizes), the barrel nipple offers outstanding ductility and fracture resistance even at low operating temperatures down to -40 degrees C. Unlike metallic fittings, the polymer formulation prevents electrolytic corrosion, pitting, scaling and biological fouling throughout decades of continuous service. The mirror-smooth hydraulic bore maintains low wall friction, preserving system pressure in pumped circuits. The material is halogen-free and chemically inert against chilled water, brine solutions, glycol cooling media, treated process waters and potable water.

Jointing is executed by cold solvent cementing using approved Tangit ABS adhesive and the matching cleaner. Both spigot ends are precisely machined to ensure uniform diametrical interference within standard solvent sockets, resulting in homogeneous, hermetically sealed joints capable of sustaining full operational pressure.

The range covers metric outer diameters from d20 mm to d110 mm and imperial dimensions from 3/8 inch to 4 inches, with nominal pressure ratings of PN10 and PN16 at 20 degrees C. These fittings ensure dependable operation across cooling systems, marine installations, water filtration plants and utility piping networks.
