This industrial PVC-U double union ball valve is built for dependable shut-off and flow regulation in pressurised industrial piping, water treatment plants and irrigation networks. The body is produced in unplasticised polyvinyl chloride (PVC-U) from the Georg Fischer (GF Piping Systems) PVC-U range and rated PN16 — a nominal working pressure of 16 bar at 20 degrees Celsius — combining high mechanical stability with broad resistance to aggressive media, including acids, alkalis and saline solutions. Thread sizes cover 3/8" to 4".

The true double union construction combines threaded union nuts with female threaded sockets (parallel Rp thread to EN 10226-1 and ISO 7-1), so the valve body can be installed or removed radially without cutting or dismantling the adjacent pipework — a decisive advantage for maintenance downtime in dense technical installations. Internally, a precision-machined ball runs against PTFE seats, giving smooth actuation torque and tight bidirectional shut-off across full operating cycles.

Because no metal is in contact with the conveyed medium, internal corrosion, scaling and electrolytic degradation are eliminated. The material formulation meets the hygiene requirements of potable water networks, aquatic life support systems and chemical dosing lines. Continuous service temperature spans 0 to 60 degrees Celsius; above 20 degrees Celsius the standard thermal de-rating factors must be applied to the working pressure.

Installation follows standard thermoplastic pipework practice. The threaded sockets require sealing materials compatible with thermoplastics, such as virgin PTFE tape; mineral-oil or solvent-based thread pastes attack PVC-U and must be strictly avoided. Union nuts are hand-tightened and then given a further quarter turn with a strap wrench, enough to seat the elastomeric seals without inducing stress on the pipe alignment.
