The Georg Fischer MSA 2.1 is an automatic electrofusion welding unit for jointing polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP) pressure piping systems in industrial, water distribution and gas utility networks. Advanced inverter technology provides a voltage-controlled output from 8 V to 48 V with a maximum fusion current of 90 A, drawn from a 230 V mains supply (190 V to 265 V, 50 to 60 Hz) or from a generator of at least 3.5 kVA. Supplied by BigWeld, an authorised Georg Fischer distributor.

Quality assurance and traceability are central to the unit. The internal memory stores up to 1000 fusion protocols, exported to a standard flash drive through the USB Type A port in PDF and BIN formats for use with the Georg Fischer application. The built-in Bluetooth interface allows wireless data entry, remote monitoring of the fusion cycle and paperless collection of records on a mobile device. Fusion parameters are read with the long-range barcode scanner or entered manually, and each weld can be assigned an operator badge and a job code.

Built for continuous site duty, the MSA 2.1 carries a Class 1 / IP 65 protection rating against dust and moisture and operates at ambient temperatures from -20 degrees Celsius to +50 degrees Celsius inside a robust aluminium die-cast enclosure of approximately 11.9 kg. The efficient cooling system supports consecutive fusion cycles without waiting time, while the graphical LCD display with adjustable contrast guides the operator through every stage using language-independent icons, cooling time indication and automatic compensation of the energy output according to ambient temperature.
