The Georg Fischer ABS metric spigot to Rp female threaded adaptor is a precision injection-moulded transition fitting for industrial pressure piping. It joins a metric solvent cement spigot end to a parallel female thread Rp conforming to EN 10226-1 and ISO 7-1, covering diameters from d20 mm up to d63 mm with thread sizes from Rp 1/2 inch to Rp 2 inch. The adaptor is rated PN10 (10 bar) at a reference water temperature of 20 degrees Celsius, matching metric ABS pipe of the same pressure class.

Moulded in ABS in gravel grey (RAL 7001), the body combines high impact strength, notch toughness and ductile mechanical behaviour across an operating range from minus 40 degrees Celsius to plus 60 degrees Celsius. ABS is halogen-free, non-toxic and resistant to scaling and chemical attack when conveying secondary refrigerants, chilled water, glycol solutions and treated water. The smooth, non-porous bore keeps friction losses low and limits biofilm formation, which suits the fitting to cooling, chilled water and water treatment circuits as well as marine installations.

The threaded end is intended primarily for plastic-to-plastic joints: plastic valves, sensors, instrumentation and equipment nozzles connect directly to the ABS distribution line. The cylindrical Rp thread is formed to full depth for maximum mechanical engagement without stress concentration. Seal exclusively with PTFE tape or non-hardening sealants compatible with thermoplastics; hemp, hardening pastes and overtightening introduce hoop stress and must be avoided.

The metric spigot end is dimensioned for solvent cementing into standard metric ABS sockets, fittings or valve bodies using Tangit ABS solvent cement with the matching Tangit cleaner. Degreasing both surfaces before application allows the cement to fuse the joint into a homogeneous, permanently leak-tight connection. Support the pipework so that no bending or tensile loads are transferred into the threaded joint; low-stress installation is what delivers decades of leak-free service.
