The Georg Fischer malleable cast iron Y-piece (Catalogue Fig. 220) is an engineered threaded distribution fitting designed for splitting or converging fluid and gas flows at symmetrical 45-degree angles within industrial, building service, and mechanical piping systems. Manufactured from high-grade decarburised annealed whiteheart malleable cast iron (grade EN-GJMW-400-5), the component exhibits outstanding structural toughness, high mechanical strength, and exceptional vibration absorption. Featuring three precision-machined Rp parallel internal pipe threads conforming to EN 10226-1 and ISO 7-1, the fitting establishes reliable, metallic-compression pipe joints that achieve an enduring, pressure-tight seal when mated with standard taper external threads (R) using approved thread-sealing compounds or tapes. The geometry of the 45-degree diverging ports reduces local turbulence and flow disruption compared to conventional right-angle tee branches, ensuring optimal fluid dynamics in heating, cooling, oil conveyance, industrial processing, compressed air, and non-corrosive gas delivery networks. Available in an untreated black surface with a temporary rust-preventative protective oil coating as well as in a heavy-duty hot-dip galvanised finish compliant with drinking water hygiene requirements, the component delivers extended service life across demanding commercial and utility environments. Rated for a maximum permissible working pressure of 25 bar across temperatures ranging from minus 20 degrees Celsius up to 120 degrees Celsius, and capable of handling up to 20 bar at 300 degrees Celsius, the threaded branching fitting provides superior pressure retention under thermal and mechanical stresses. Full integration into the standardised Georg Fischer z-dimension methodology facilitates rapid, accurate pipe prefabrication, precise axial alignment, and seamless installation across fixed pipework assemblies.
