The Georg Fischer (GF Piping Systems) metric ABS cross is an equal four-way solvent cement fitting for industrial and utility pressure piping. Rated PN10 (10 bar at 20 degrees C), it connects four metric ABS pipes of identical diameter at right angles, holding the flow distribution uniform and keeping manifold or grid layouts dimensionally rigid. The range covers outer diameters d32mm, d63mm and d90mm, which suits compact perpendicular branching on process lines where a pair of tees would add length and turbulence.

The body is moulded in Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene in RAL 7001 gravel grey, a thermoplastic that combines high mechanical impact resistance with ductile behaviour over a working range from -50 degrees C to +60 degrees C. Unlike conventional polyolefins or metallic pipework, ABS retains its toughness well below zero, so refrigeration circuits, chilled water lines, glycol cooling loops and marine utility networks are not exposed to brittle cracking. The material is halogen-free and chemically resistant to water treatment media and dilute solutions, preventing corrosion and scale build-up inside the branch.

Assembly is by solvent cement jointing, a cold chemical weld in which the socket surface and the pipe wall fuse into a single homogeneous, leak-tight structure. For permanent joint integrity at a continuous 10 bar working pressure, cut the pipe square, deburr it, clean both mating surfaces with Tangit cleaner and apply Tangit ABS solvent cement. The sockets are produced to tight tolerances so the capillary gap fills evenly and all four legs stay in exact alignment.

Each equal cross is fully compatible with Georg Fischer metric ABS PN10 pipe:

• d32mm: outer diameter D = 43 mm, length L = 39 mm, socket depth z = 17 mm
• d63mm: outer diameter D = 79 mm, length L = 72 mm, socket depth z = 34 mm
• d90mm: outer diameter D = 106 mm, length L = 97 mm, socket depth z = 48 mm
