The Type 546 Pro DA ball valve from Georg Fischer (GF Piping Systems) is a pneumatically actuated two-way valve with an ABS body and ABS ISO solvent cement sockets, available from d16 to d110 at a nominal pressure of PN10. The double-acting PPA actuator sits in a glass-fibre reinforced polypropylene (PP-GF) housing and runs at a nominal control pressure of 5.6 bar, supplied through an integrated NAMUR interface to VDI/VDE 3845, so standard pilot solenoids mount directly on the actuator without an adaptor plate.

Because the actuator is double-acting, compressed air drives both the opening and the closing stroke, giving a defined torque in each direction for cycling duties and for media that demand a positive shut-off. Sealing is handled by PTFE ball seats and EPDM O-rings, a combination suited to cooling and chilled water circuits, water treatment plant, marine systems and drinking water installations built in ABS.

The valve body carries integrated stainless steel mounting inserts, so the assembly can be bracketed or panel-mounted without machining the thermoplastic, and the actuator has a visual position indicator for quick confirmation of the ball position on site. The z-dimension, valve ends and ABS union nuts are kept identical to the 1st generation Type 546, which means the Pro DA drops into existing pipework as a direct replacement without recutting or re-spacing the line.

The design is modular: electrical LED position feedback sensors can be added for remote signalling, and a digital RPC positioner converts the unit into a modulating process control valve. Socketed ends are joined with ABS solvent cement after cleaning with the matching cleaner/primer.
