The silicone-free metric ABS union is a detachable three-piece fitting manufactured by Georg Fischer (GF Piping Systems) for industrial piping where process purity is critical. It covers metric outside diameters from d16 to d110 mm and is joined by solvent cementing, so complete sections of a rigid network can be assembled or removed radially without cutting into the line. The union is rated PN10 (10 bar at 20 degrees Celsius) and seals with an EPDM profile O-ring that stays leak-tight over long service intervals in demanding process loops.

The fitting is produced completely free of silicone, mineral oils and paint-wetting impairment substances (PWIS / LABS). In paint shops, cathodic electrodeposition lines and automotive coating plants, traces of silicone cause cratering, fisheyes and adhesion failure on the finished surface; removing silicone lubricants and release agents from production keeps the conveyed medium clean. The same purity makes the union suitable for high-grade water treatment, precision parts cleaning, cooling and chilled water circuits feeding surface finishing processes, and marine service.

Mechanically, the union combines a union nut, a union bush and a union end machined to tight dimensional tolerances. Sizes d16 to d63 mm use parallel cylindrical gas threads from G 3/4" to G 2 3/4", distributing tightening torque evenly across the sealing face. Dimensions d75 to d110 mm use heavy-duty metric trapezoidal threads from Tr108x5 to Tr154x6, sized to take high hydrodynamic thrust and tightening loads without thread binding or distortion.

The body material is gravel grey (RAL 7001) acrylonitrile butadiene styrene, offering high notch impact strength, ductility down to minus 40 degrees Celsius and chemical resistance to inorganic salts, dilute acids and alkalis. Assembly is carried out with standard ABS cleaner and ABS solvent cement. Georg Fischer supplies the full metric ABS programme in PN10 from d20 to d225 mm, so each union can be matched to pipe, fittings and valves in the same material and pressure class.
