The ABS ball valve Type 546 Pro PPA FC from Georg Fischer (GF Piping Systems) is an automated two-way shut-off valve built for industrial cooling, chilled water, water treatment and process applications. A pneumatic PP-GF actuator drives the ball in fail-safe-to-close mode: a control pressure of 5.6 bar holds the valve open, and when the air supply fails the spring package returns the ball to the closed position, so the line always falls back to a defined safe state without auxiliary energy. The actuator is coupled through a VDI/VDE 3845 NAMUR interface, which keeps pilot valves, solenoid blocks and limit switch boxes freely interchangeable.

The valve is rated PN10 over its full size range, from d16/DN10 to d110/DN100, and connects through solvent cement sockets in ISO metric dimensions, so it integrates directly into ABS PN10 metric piping without adaptors. Body and union nuts are ABS, the ball seats are low-friction PTFE and the seals are EPDM, a combination that keeps operating torque low and cycle behaviour predictable on frequently switched branches. Stainless steel mounting inserts are integrated in the body for actuator and accessory mounting, and an optical position indicator shows the ball position directly at the actuator.

Z-dimensions and union nuts remain fully backwards compatible with the first generation Type 546, so an existing manual or automated valve can be exchanged without reworking the pipework. Jointing is carried out with ABS solvent cement after the socket and spigot surfaces have been prepared with the matching cleaner, which produces a homogeneous, permanently sealed connection.
