The Georg Fischer Type 044 wafer-style metal butterfly valve is built for industrial flow regulation and positive isolation in chemically aggressive media. An ASTM A395 ductile iron body carries fluoropolymer wetted components, so the valve resists corrosive acids and demanding process fluids while keeping the structural rigidity of a metal valve. The wafer design is clamped between pipeline flanges as an intermediate sandwich installation, and the integrated manual gearbox delivers precise throttling while reducing the torque needed to cycle the disc against differential line pressure.

The sealing system is designed for severe chemical processing. The disc is stainless steel fully encapsulated in perfluoroalkoxy (PFA), running against a virgin PTFE liner backed by an elastic silicone energizing ring. That silicone cushion maintains continuous, uniform compression on the PFA disc edge as process temperatures fluctuate, giving bubble-tight bidirectional shut-off from full vacuum up to a working pressure of 16 bar.

Face-to-face dimensions comply with EN 558 series 20 (row 20) for straightforward interchangeability on industrial pipe skids, while the ductile iron body absorbs pipeline stresses and shields the internal fluoropolymer barrier. The wafer body clamps between metric DIN ISO PN10 and PN16 flanges as well as ANSI Class 150 lbs flange patterns, across diameters from D63 mm up to D315 mm. The self-locking worm gearbox includes a visual position indicator and handwheel, preventing water hammer and pressure surges from abrupt closure. A standardised actuator mounting interface to DIN EN ISO 5211 allows direct retrofit of pneumatic or electric actuators.
