The Type 039 wafer-style metal butterfly valve is supplied with a pneumatic actuator in fail-safe-to-close (FC) configuration: the actuator spring drives the disc to the closed position whenever the air supply fails, so the line is isolated without operator intervention. This makes the unit a standard building block for automated process systems where loss of control air must not leave a circuit open. The valve body is cast in GGG40 ductile iron and protected by a Rilsan® coating, a combination that carries the clamping load of a wafer installation between flanges while resisting corrosion and mechanical wear.

The disc is machined from uncoated DIN 1.4408 stainless steel and the single-piece stem with square profile is DIN 1.4021 stainless steel. Because the stem is one piece, actuator torque is transmitted directly into the disc, with no couplings or pins that could develop play over the service life. Face-to-face dimensions follow EN 558 row 20, so the valve drops into any wafer position built to the same series, while the DIN EN ISO 5211 mounting interface allows the pneumatic drive to be re-indexed or exchanged on site without removing the body from the line.

Chemical compatibility is set by the liner: EPDM, DVGW-certified EPDM, FKM and NBR are available, each sealing against the stainless disc for secure shut-off in industrial piping networks when the air supply is lost. The valve is offered for pipe outside diameters d63 to d315 mm in nine sizes, with an actuator air supply range of 4 to 10 bar.
