The Georg Fischer Type 039 metal wafer butterfly valve with pneumatic actuator in fail-safe to close (FC) configuration is built for automated isolation and emergency shut-off duties in large-bore industrial pipework. Supplied from DN350 to DN1200, it provides dependable shut-off at a rated working pressure of 4 bar. BigWeld delivers this automated valve assembly as an authorised Georg Fischer distributor.

The body is epoxy-coated ductile iron to ASTM A 395, giving high structural strength, fatigue resistance and external protection against corrosive atmospheres. Flow isolation is handled by an uncoated DIN 1.4408 (AISI 316 grade) stainless steel disc for chemical resistance, a smooth hydraulic profile and long service life. Torque from the actuator is transmitted through a two-piece keyway shaft in high-tensile DIN 1.4021 stainless steel, eliminating slippage and keeping the disc precisely aligned over high cycle counts.

The spring-return pneumatic actuator drives the valve to a secure closed position automatically if the compressed air supply fails, preventing system drainage or downstream contamination. Sealing integrity is maintained across the full diameter range by interchangeable elastomeric liners, specified in EPDM for water, neutral fluids and general utilities, or FKM for aggressive media and elevated temperatures.

The wafer body follows EN 558 Line 20 (ISO 5752 series 20) face-to-face dimensions and mounts directly between EN 1092 PN10 flanges. Its compact footprint reduces installed length and structural loading while maintaining uniform full-circumference gasket compression, which suits water treatment, power generation, heavy industrial utilities and chemical processing plants.
