The Georg Fischer Type 578 PVC-C lug-style butterfly valve is an engineered thermoplastic valve designed for dependable isolation and throttling regulation in demanding chemical process and industrial utility piping systems. Equipped with an ergonomic multi-position hand lever featuring fine indexing notches, the Type 578 enables precise manual flow throttling and reliable shut-off for aggressive acids, alkalis, and salt solutions. Built in a full-lug pattern, the valve features integrated stainless steel SS316 threaded inserts within a rugged glass-fiber reinforced polypropylene (PP-GF30) housing, allowing secure dead-end installation and maintenance without draining upstream sections.

Featuring a post-chlorinated polyvinyl chloride (PVC-C) disc in Agate Grey RAL 7038, the valve exhibits outstanding resistance to chemical attack and elevated thermal stability up to 80 degrees Celsius under pressure. The sealing system utilizes durable elastomeric seals available in high-grade EPDM or FKM, ensuring bubble-tight bidirectional shut-off across metric diameters from d63 mm to d315 mm. Operating pressures range from 6 to 10 bar (PN6 to PN10) according to nominal sizing. The double-eccentric disc geometry lowers operating torque and optimizes flow coefficients, preventing excessive pressure drop across the installation.

Face-to-face dimensions comply strictly with EN 558 and ISO 5752 standards, facilitating seamless installation between industrial flanges matching EN 1092 PN10, ISO 7005 PN10, DIN 2501, or ANSI B16.5 Class 150. The standardized ISO 5211 mounting interface permits quick field retrofitting of electrical position feedback units or automated actuators.
