The Georg Fischer Type 243 lug-style butterfly valve in ABS is built for automated quarter-turn isolation and throttling in industrial process piping. It is supplied with a single-acting pneumatic actuator configured Fail-Safe to Open (FO), so the pre-stressed spring drives the disc to the open position whenever pilot air pressure is lost, keeping the circuit open and relieving the line. The assembly covers metric diameters from d63/DN50 to d140/DN125 and is rated PN10 (10 bar) at ambient temperature, which suits closed cooling loops, chilled water circuits, industrial water treatment and chemical distribution systems that need rapid automated switching.

Body and disc are moulded in acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS), a material with high impact strength, good dimensional stability and complete immunity to galvanic and chemical corrosion. The lugged body carries integral threaded metal inserts matched to EN 1092-1 and ISO 7005 PN10 bolt circles, so the valve can be clamped inline or used as an end-of-line shutoff when a downstream section has to be dismantled without depressurising the upstream sector. The EPDM seat profile delivers bidirectional bubble-tight shutoff, while the face-to-face length follows EN 558 and ISO 5752.

Actuation comes from a compact pneumatic unit housed in glass-fibre reinforced polypropylene (PP-GF). At the standard control pressure of 4.2 bar the spring mechanism completes a 90 degrees rotation in 1 to 2 seconds. An optical position indicator shows disc status at a glance, and the NAMUR interface to VDI/VDE 3845 accepts pilot solenoid valves, limit switch boxes and electro-pneumatic positioners without adapter work.
