ecoFIT reducing adaptor socket Rp PE100 SDR11 PN10
Data Sheet | Product Range | Instructional Video
The Georg Fischer ecoFIT metric reducing adaptor socket is a transition fitting built for high-integrity socket fusion jointing in industrial polyethylene piping systems. It forms the interface between metric PE pipework and threaded components, passing from a socket fusion spigot to a BSP parallel female thread (Rp). Rated at nominal pressure PN10 with an SDR 11 classification at 20 degrees Celsius, it maintains hydraulic continuity and mechanical security across utility and industrial fluid distribution networks.
The body is moulded in high-density polyethylene — socket fusion fittings in the ecoFIT range are produced in PE80 and fuse homogeneously with PE100 pipe — and carries a factory-fitted stainless steel (A2) reinforcing ring around the female threaded collar. This external ring absorbs the radial stresses generated during thread tightening and under operating pressure cycles, suppressing circumferential creep and stress cracking at the thread root.
The series covers metric pipe diameters from d20 mm to d50 mm, paired with parallel female threads from Rp 3/8 inch to Rp 1 1/4 inch, with outer diameters between 26 mm and 55 mm and overall lengths from 33 mm to 55 mm. The thread accepts both metal and thermoplastic male connections, so the fitting is widely used in water treatment plants, chemical distribution lines and industrial cooling circuits as a take-off point for sensors, pressure gauges, sampling taps and isolation valves.
Socket fusion produces a permanent, leak-free molecular bond with the PE-HD line, while the high chemical resistance of polyethylene combined with grade A2 stainless steel avoids galvanic degradation and interior encrustation over the service life. Assembly is carried out with standard socket fusion equipment, respecting insertion depth, heating intervals and axial alignment. Threaded connections must be sealed with non-hardening sealants such as PTFE tape; pastes and compounds harmful to polyethylene are not permitted, and the fitting must be supported so that the threaded branch is not loaded in bending.
