The Georg Fischer (GF Piping Systems) Type 543 three-way ball valve is made from unplasticised polyvinyl chloride (PVC-U) and combines a horizontal T-port ball with metric solvent cement sockets, so that one body can mix, divert or distribute process streams. Rated PN16 at 20 degrees Celsius, it is specified for chemical processing, industrial water treatment, aquaculture, swimming pool technology and utility piping, where inorganic acids, alkalis, salts and process water are handled continuously. The range covers diameters from 16 mm to 63 mm, with EPDM or FPM seal sets selected according to the medium.

The T-port ball is machined to close tolerances and supported on PTFE seats, which keeps operating torque low, makes manual cycling smooth and provides bidirectional, bubble-tight shut-off in every switching position. Sealing is completed by elastomer O-rings in EPDM or FPM (fluoroelastomer), with chemical compatibility according to ISO/TR 10358 over a working temperature range of 0 to +60 degrees Celsius. The nominal pressure applies at 20 degrees Celsius; de-rating must be considered at elevated temperatures. The socket ends produce clean, high-integrity joints with compatible PVC-U solvent cements.

The true union construction allows the body to be dismounted radially for seal inspection and in-line servicing, without disturbing the adjacent pipework, and keeps the valve interchangeable within metric PVC-U systems. Threaded mounting bushings integrated in the body accept pneumatic or electric actuators later on, without replacing the valve, while the manual handle carries an integrated position indicator that confirms the flow route between the ports at a glance.
