The ELGEF Plus Tapping Saddle PE100, monobloc version with integrated Gas-Stop (type 1–5 bar) from Georg Fischer (GF Piping Systems) is designed for branch connections on live gas mains, so the tapping is carried out under pressure without interrupting supply to downstream consumers. The saddle covers main pipe dimensions d63–160 mm as an SDR 11 fitting, with pipe SDR compatibility from 9 to 17.6, and carries a 5 bar gas rating. Outlets are available in d20 and d32.

The fitting is moulded from 100% virgin PE100 resin approved by the PE100+ Association, in black RAL 9005, with a density of approximately 0.95 g/cm³, a yield stress of 25 N/mm² and a tensile E-modulus of 900 N/mm² at 23 degrees. It belongs to the same ELGEF Plus utility programme used for buried water and gas distribution networks built to an estimated 100-year service life.

Tapping is performed with the integrated mechanical cutter, operated through a screw cap that is sealed with an O-ring once the branch is open. The lower part is moulded on, so the saddle is installed in a single electrofusion operation using 4 mm pin connectors, while limited-path fusion indicators give a visual confirmation that the fusion cycle has run. The long fusion outlet leaves sufficient weld length for the branch coupler, and the Gas-Stop insert (GS 20/1 or GS 32/1) is supplied pre-assembled, with a maximum flow capacity of 25–100 m³/h depending on outlet size.
