The PROGEF Standard diaphragm valve Type 317, manufactured by Georg Fischer (GF Piping Systems), is a flanged manual flow control device for industrial, water treatment and chemical process piping systems. Supplied across Europe by BigWeld, an authorised Georg Fischer distributor, it regulates clean fluids, viscous media, slurries and aggressive chemicals in services where conventional valve designs suffer accelerated wear or leakage.

The valve body is moulded in beta polypropylene homopolymer (β-PP-H) and the upper housing in glass-fibre reinforced polypropylene (PP-GF), a combination that provides high mechanical strength together with thermal stability. Stainless steel bolting secures the assembly and keeps it dimensionally stable under cyclic pressure and temperature loads.

Flanged ends cover metric diameters from d75 mm to d160 mm (DN65 to DN150), with face-to-face dimensions to EN 558 series 1 and valve specifications to EN ISO 16138. The ergonomic handwheel carries an integrated optical position indicator, so stroke position and degree of opening can be read directly at the valve without additional instrumentation. The internal flow profile is shaped for low pressure loss and a linear control characteristic, limiting turbulence through the seat area. Depending on chemical exposure and fluid temperature, the valve is fitted with EPDM, FKM, NBR or PTFE diaphragms with an elastomer backing, for operating pressures of 7 to 10 bar.
