The Georg Fischer (GF Piping Systems) ecoFIT PE100 union is a dismountable mechanical connection designed for welded high-density polyethylene pipework. It is supplied in the larger diameters d75 mm, d90 mm and d110 mm (DN65 to DN100), built to SDR11 and rated PN10, equivalent to 10 bar water at 20 degrees C. Because both spigot ends are PE, the fitting is welded straight into the line and needs no transition component.

On an industrial plant the union provides a service break within an otherwise continuous welded network. Pipe spools, valves, strainers, pumps, measuring instruments and equipment interfaces can be removed and refitted for inspection or replacement without cutting the pipeline and re-welding it.

The body is moulded from high-grade black PE100 resin, giving high resistance to mechanical stress, environmental stress cracking, UV exposure and a wide range of aggressive chemical media. The union nut is produced in glass fibre-reinforced polypropylene (PP-GF) for rigidity and dimensional stability under prolonged tightening torque. Sealing is handled by a fluorocarbon elastomer (FKM) O-ring, which withstands corrosive acids, hydrocarbons, oxidising agents and elevated process temperatures where standard elastomers degrade.

The spigot ends are machined for both conventional butt fusion and non-contact IR Plus infrared welding, carried out in accordance with the DVS 2207 welding guidelines. Compliance with EN ISO 15494 ensures uniform wall geometry and a smooth internal bore for low pressure loss, suiting the fitting to industrial water treatment, chemical process lines, cooling circuits and utility distribution networks.
