The ecoFIT Adaptor from Georg Fischer (GF Piping Systems) is a PE100 transition fitting that combines a butt fusion spigot with a tapered male R thread, covering d20 to d63 and thread sizes R1/2 to R2 across DN15 to DN50. The spigot is produced in SDR11 for PN16 duty at 20 degrees, so the fitting matches the pressure class of ecoFIT SDR11 pipe and the changeover to threaded metal equipment introduces no reduction in the rating of the line.

The body is manufactured from virgin PE100 resin, with wall thickness rising from 1.9 mm at d20 to 5.8 mm at d63 and an overall length between 51 and 67 mm, which keeps the transition compact where space around pumps, manifolds and valve groups is limited. The spigot end is joined by conventional butt fusion and is also compatible with IR (infrared) welding, producing a homogeneous, full-bore joint with the adjoining PE100 pipe. The fitting conforms to EN ISO 15494 and belongs to the ecoFIT PE100 industrial piping system.

Typical duties are industrial process pipework, chemical handling, cooling and chilled water systems and data centre infrastructure, wherever a welded polyethylene network has to be terminated at threaded metal valves, instruments, pumps or manifolds. Because the welded side is permanent while the threaded side stays demountable, the adaptor is the usual choice at points that must be opened for service or instrument replacement.

Install the threaded connection under low mechanical stress: support the adjoining pipework so that bending and torsion are not carried by the thread, and seal only with materials that are not harmful to polyethylene, since aggressive thread sealing compounds can initiate stress cracking in PE.
