The Georg Fischer ecoFIT adaptor union in PE80 combines a socket fusion end with a dezincification-resistant brass union nut, giving a detachable transition between welded polyethylene piping and metallic equipment, valves or instrumentation. BigWeld supplies these ecoFIT fittings across Europe for chemical processing, industrial cooling circuits, water treatment plants and utility networks where sections must be dismantled for maintenance.

The socket end is produced in high-density PE80, the material specified within the ecoFIT range for socket fusion fittings because of its impact resistance, high resistance to stress cracking and chemical inertness towards non-oxidising acids, alkalis and industrial effluents. The union nut is machined from dezincification-resistant brass, preventing selective zinc leaching and stress corrosion cracking in humid plant rooms or in contact with aggressive water.

Sealing is handled by a profiled NBR (nitrile rubber) O-ring of approximately 65 Shore hardness, the elastomer specified for ecoFIT brass adaptor unions, which stays tight under continuous hydraulic pressure and vibration. The union is rated PN10 at SDR 17 and a reference temperature of 20 degrees C, while the metric socket dimensions follow DIN practice, so melt flow and dimensional tolerance remain consistent during heated tool socket fusion.

Six metric sizes are available — d20, d25, d32, d40, d50 and d63 mm — jointed with standard socket fusion heating bushes to form a homogeneous weld on the pipe side, while the brass nut keeps the metallic side serviceable without cutting into the line.
