The Georg Fischer Type 2290 Non-Contacting Radar Level Transmitter delivers precise, continuous liquid level measurement in industrial process vessels and storage tanks. Because the measurement is taken without contact with the medium, the instrument works independently of process atmosphere variations, vapour layers, foaming and temperature fluctuations that limit conventional level technologies. Chemically resistant materials of construction suit corrosive service, so the unit monitors aggressive media continuously without being immersed in them and without mechanical wear or fouling.
Typical deployment covers chemical processing, water conditioning and utility infrastructure: bulk solvent storage, chlorine and ammonia vessels, chemical reaction tanks, neutralisation systems and buffer vessels. In water treatment plants the Type 2290 provides reliable level detection across pumping stations, raw water intakes, flocculation basins, sludge holding tanks and treated drinking water conditioning tanks, where contacting sensors would demand regular cleaning or replacement.
Integration into plant instrumentation is straightforward through the standard 4 to 20 mA analogue output and compatibility with Georg Fischer Signet automation electronics. Paired with the Signet i-Go 8058 Signal Converter, the 4 to 20 mA signal becomes Signet digital (S3L) serial data, enabling direct communication with Signet 8250, 8350, 8450 and 8900 multi-parameter controllers. The transmitter also works with the Signet 9900 Transmitter, which offers an auto-sensing backlit display, an analogue dial-type bar graph, configurable warning LEDs and plug-in modules for relay control and digital communication.
As an authorised Georg Fischer distributor, BigWeld supplies authentic instrumentation and complete measurement assemblies built to European industrial specifications.
