The Georg Fischer GF 800 - 1000 - 1200 series comprises hydraulic butt fusion machines built for jointing polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP) pressure piping systems in trench installations and on demanding jobsites. The range covers large-diameter thermoplastic pipe from d 500 mm to d 1200 mm through three configurations: the GF 800 for d 500 mm to d 800 mm, the GF 1000 for d 630 mm to d 1000 mm and the GF 1200 for d 710 mm to d 1200 mm. Working hydraulic pressure reaches 200 bar, delivering the axial jointing forces required for homogeneous, high-integrity welds.

Each unit is built around a rigid, distortion-free aluminium base frame that absorbs the torsional and compressive loads generated during clamping and bead formation. The chassis is inclined at 45 degrees, giving the operator direct visibility and unrestricted access to the fusion zone even in narrow trenches and excavation pits. Clamping is handled by four sturdy clamps, the movable third clamp allowing fast, rigid alignment and fixation of segmented bends, elbows, tees and short-spigot moulded fittings without supplementary tooling. The aluminium construction keeps structural rigidity high while holding equipment weight at a level suited to site handling.

Hydraulic control is provided by a high-performance electro-hydraulic power unit with intuitive joystick regulation. The integrated hydraulic accumulator maintains continuous pressure equalization throughout the heating and cooling phases, compensating dynamically for thermal shrinkage and hydraulic variation. Pipe end preparation is carried out with a parallel electric planer fitted with a safety microswitch that prevents accidental activation when the planer is disengaged from the guide chassis.
