Transparent PVC-U Pipe PN16
Data Sheet | Product Range | Instructional Video
High clarity transparent PVC-U pipe engineered for industrial piping systems that require direct visual monitoring of the process and inspection of fluid flow. Manufactured in accordance with DIN 8062, this rigid unplasticised polyvinyl chloride pressure pipe corresponds to pipe series S6.3 and standard dimension ratio SDR 13.5, giving a nominal pressure rating of PN16 (16 bar at a reference water temperature of 20 degrees Celsius). It is supplied in straight lengths of 5000 mm (5 m) with plain spigot ends, in metric diameters from d16 to d63 mm.
The transparent wall allows continuous observation of liquid streams, entrained air bubbles, dosing rates and media transitions without interrupting operation. Jointing is by cold solvent cement socket fusion with compatible metric PVC-U fittings from the Georg Fischer range. The unplasticised compound provides high mechanical rigidity, dimensional stability and a smooth internal bore that prevents scaling and minimises friction head losses. The formulation complies with European food contact regulation EU 10/2011 and the applicable requirements for potable water and liquid foodstuffs, ensuring chemical inertness and process safety.
Transparent PVC-U offers excellent chemical resistance to inorganic acids, alkalis and saline solutions common in process industries. The allowable operating pressure is rated at 20 degrees Celsius and must be de-rated according to the standard thermal reduction factors at elevated temperatures. Typical applications include industrial water treatment plants, chemical dosing skids, aquaculture recirculation networks, aquarium filtration circuits and laboratory fluid lines. Install the pipe on metric pipe brackets at the recommended support spacings to accommodate thermal expansion; ends must be cut square, deburred, chamfered at 15 degrees and degreased with cleaner before cementing.
