The Blucast single ball air release valve provides aeration, deaeration and vacuum protection in potable water mains, irrigation schemes and pressurised utility pipelines. Rated for PN10/16 service and built around a ductile iron body, it releases air that collects at high points during normal operation, vents large volumes while the line is being filled, and admits air during draining so the pipeline cannot collapse under vacuum. The working range covers potable water and neutral fluids from 0 to 80 degrees C.

The body is cast in EN-GJS-500-7 ductile iron and protected by an electrostatic powder epoxy coating applied to a minimum thickness of 250 µm in RAL 5015 sky blue, the Blucast standard for corrosion resistance and hygienic drinking water contact. The floating ball and its kinematic guides are made from stainless steel and high-durability polymers, while the resilient seat uses fully vulcanised EPDM rubber for bubble-tight shut-off at both low and nominal pressure.

BigWeld supplies the valve as an authorised Blucast dealer in flanged sizes from DN50 to DN150, drilled to EN 1092-2 for PN10 and PN16 connections. The non-slam discharge characteristic limits pressure surges and water hammer when trapped air leaves the line quickly, protecting pumps, meters and instrumentation downstream. The self-cleaning orifice and corrosion-proof internals keep maintenance to a minimum on municipal networks and plant installations, where access for servicing is often restricted.
