PP Adaptor to Cast Iron
The PP adaptor to cast iron is engineered for transition connections between legacy cast iron discharge piping and modern polypropylene soil and waste systems inside residential, commercial, and industrial buildings. Manufactured from high-grade polypropylene in standard grey finish, this technical fitting enables secure jointing of HTEM polypropylene pipes directly to existing cast iron spigots or sockets, facilitating system refurbishment, extension, and maintenance. Sealing integrity is provided by a factory-fitted elastomeric EPDM gasket positioned within the profiled socket groove, accommodating thermal expansion movements while preventing wastewater leakage and sewer gas egress. Designed for continuous gravity discharge service, the adaptor operates reliably at working temperatures up to 60 degrees C, withstands intermittent thermal surges up to 95 degrees C, and retains structural elasticity at low temperatures down to -15 degrees C. The chemically resilient polypropylene matrix provides broad compatibility across a pH range from 2 to 12, maintaining full resistance against household detergents from washing machines and dishwashers, aggressive alkaline solutions, acidic domestic waste, and dissolved salts. Featuring an exceptionally smooth interior wall with a Manning roughness coefficient of 0.01, the adaptor minimizes hydraulic friction, prevents sedimentation build-up, and delivers high abrasion resistance against particulate-laden wastewater. Engineered to compensate for linear thermal expansion rated at 0.12 mm/m·K, the socketed push-fit interface ensures fast mechanical assembly without adhesives or solvent cement, ensuring an operational service life of at least 50 years.
