The Georg Fischer malleable cast iron socket 271 provides a robust, inline threaded connection engineered for assembling fixed pipework sections without rotating adjacent pipes during installation. Operating on a turnbuckle principle, the fitting incorporates parallel internal Rp jointing threads manufactured according to EN 10226-1 and ISO 7-1, featuring a right-hand thread at one port and an opposing left-hand thread at the other. When simultaneously engaged with matching right-hand and left-hand male threaded pipe ends, rotation of the socket draws both conduits together into a rigid, pressure-tight joint or disengages them without disturbing the axial alignment of pre-installed pipe runs. Manufactured exclusively from decarburised annealed whiteheart malleable cast iron grade EN-GJMW-400-5 in accordance with EN 10242 Design Symbol A and EN 1562, the component delivers high mechanical strength, shock resistance, and structural stability under severe service conditions. Available with either a black surface finish protected by a preservative coating against temporary oxidation or a high-purity hot-dip galvanised zinc finish suitable for drinking water installations, the fitting ensures reliable protection across harsh operating environments. The connection is rated for maximum working pressures up to 25 bar within a continuous service temperature range of -20 to 120 degrees Celsius, and maintains pressure-tight containment up to 20 bar at temperatures reaching 300 degrees Celsius. Suited for industrial pipework, technical building services, fuel gas networks, compressed air lines, hydronic heating systems, and cooling infrastructure, the socket delivers dependable joint integrity across demanding liquid and gaseous distribution systems.
