The Type 335 variable area flow meter without magnet from Georg Fischer (GF Piping Systems) is a precision mechanical rotameter for direct optical monitoring of liquid flow in industrial piping networks. It combines robust PVC-U true union ends with a calibrated transparent measuring tube, so the flow rate is read immediately and without any auxiliary electrical power. The meter is rated at 16 bar (PN16) at 20 degrees Celsius, covers metric sizes from d32 mm to d75 mm and handles flow capacities from 50 l/h up to 60,000 l/h across the variant series. Measurement follows the proven variable area principle: the medium enters at the bottom of the tapered measuring tube and lifts the internal float until dynamic equilibrium against gravity is reached, the float position being read directly on the printed scale.

Direct reading scales are available for water, air, hydrochloric acid 30 to 33 percent and sodium hydroxide 30 and 50 percent, so the indicated value matches the process medium without conversion factors. The version without magnet is intended for clear to slightly turbid liquid media where electronic signal transmission is not required. It delivers maximum mechanical reliability and removes the risk of metallic particles being attracted to the float. The true union connections allow radial installation and removal without dismantling adjacent pipe sections, which simplifies periodic inspection, tube cleaning and maintenance shutdowns, while the solvent cement sockets form leak-tight joints inside metric PVC-U networks.

PVC-U provides high resistance to inorganic acids, alkalis and saline solutions typical of aggressive chemical lines, industrial water treatment plants, reverse osmosis skids and continuous dosing systems. The unit must be mounted vertically with flow directed from bottom to top, keeping straight inlet and outlet pipe runs to avoid turbulence and preserve measuring accuracy over the whole calibrated range.
