The Georg Fischer profiled backing flange PN10 is a heavy-duty composite flange engineered for metric polyethylene piping systems joined with butt fusion flange adaptors. A GGG 50 ductile iron insert is fully encapsulated in a glass-fibre reinforced polypropylene casing, combining the mechanical rigidity required under bolt pre-tensioning with complete protection against atmospheric and soil corrosion. Covering pipe sizes d450 to d630 (nominal sizes DN 450 to DN 600), the backing ring carries an internal profile matched to the tapered shoulder of PE100 flange adaptors. This geometric match spreads the axial clamping load evenly over the thermoplastic face, preventing point loading, stress peaks and collar deformation during bolt tightening. The flat external face gives uniform seating for standard metric bolts and washers, keeping gasket compression stable and the joint tight up to 10 bar continuous working pressure.

Connecting dimensions and hole patterns conform to EN 1092-1, ISO 7005 and DIN 2501 for the PN10 pressure class, enabling straightforward flanged connections to valves, pumps and metal piping. The complete plastic encapsulation shields the metal core from aggressive soils, groundwater and chemical atmospheres, eliminating the recoating and maintenance routine associated with bare or painted steel flanges.
