The Georg Fischer (GF Piping Systems) Type 243 butterfly valve combines an ABS body with a pneumatic rotary actuator for automated isolation and flow control in industrial piping, chilled water loops and water treatment plants. The unit is supplied in fail-safe-to-open (FO) configuration: internal spring packs drive the disc to the fully open position whenever control air pressure is lost, keeping cooling circuits and critical lines free of unintended blockage during an instrument air failure.

Body and disc are ABS, the seals are EPDM, and the actuator housing is glass-fibre reinforced polypropylene (PP-GF30), a combination that delivers high mechanical strength, chemical resistance and dimensional stability under continuous duty. The actuator works at a nominal control air pressure of 4.2 bar and completes the 90 degrees stroke in 1 to 2 seconds for fast process response. A VDI/VDE 3845 NAMUR interface on the top plate accepts pilot solenoid valves, limit switch boxes and positioners mounted directly, without adapter brackets, while an optical position indicator on the actuator cap shows disc position at a glance from the walkway.

The lug body carries threaded inserts, so the valve can be installed between two pipe sections or as an end-of-line shut-off, allowing the downstream section to be dismantled without depressurising the upstream installation. Nominal pressure rating is up to PN10 and the Type 243 range covers DN50 (outside diameter d63 mm) through DN125 (outside diameter d140 mm). ABS gives good impact resistance at low operating temperatures, a smooth bore that resists scale build-up and complete immunity to galvanic corrosion. Face-to-face lengths follow EN 558 and ISO 5752, and the flange drilling matches EN 1092, ISO 7005 and DIN 2501, making the valve interchangeable within international piping assemblies.
