The Type 546 ball valve in PVC-C is the shut-off element of the Georg Fischer (GF Piping Systems) PVC-C industrial piping system, available from d16 to d110 mm with a pressure rating of PN16 and an operating temperature range of 0 to 80 degrees. The post-chlorinated PVC body retains the mechanical performance of the system — high tensile strength, stiffness and impact strength — at temperatures where unplasticized PVC-U is already derated, which makes this valve the natural shut-off device for hot chemical and process media.

Sealing is specified per duty: the ball runs on PTFE seats, while the stem and body seals are supplied in EPDM for general industrial service or in FKM (FPM) where aggressive acids and oxidising media are handled. Valve bodies are moulded in agate grey RAL 7038, are flame retardant and self-extinguishing, and offer outstanding chemical resistance against acids, alkalis and salt solutions. Shafts and metal inserts are stainless steel 1.4404 (316L).

Type 546 belongs to the modular valve architecture of the PVC-C range: interface dimensions are standardised, so the manual handle can be exchanged for a multifunctional module, an electric actuator or a pneumatic actuator without replacing the body, with actuator mounting to DIN/ISO 5211 and face-to-face dimensions to EN 558 and ISO 5752. Typical applications are the chemical process industry and chemical dosing, demineralised and ultra-pure water, water and wastewater treatment, electroplating, surface treatment and paint shops, microelectronics and semiconductor lines, marine and shipbuilding systems, and building technology.
