The Georg Fischer Type 546 Pro pneumatic ball valve is an engineered automation solution for precise on-off isolation in industrial distribution systems. The assembly pairs an acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) valve body with a double-acting (DA) PPA pneumatic actuator housed in glass-fibre reinforced polypropylene (PP-GF). Fitted with ISO Rp female threaded sockets in dimensions from 3/8" to 2", the valve is rated for a nominal pressure of PN10 (10 bar). Engineered for reliable flow control, the Type 546 Pro features a low-friction PTFE ball seat and resilient EPDM backing seals, giving dependable bi-directional shut-off at minimal operating torque. The double-acting PPA actuator uses compressed air for both the opening and the closing stroke, which delivers fast, repeatable switching cycles. The actuator package includes an integrated optical position indicator for visual inspection, an accessible manual emergency override for servicing, and a NAMUR accessory interface to VDI/VDE 3845 for direct mounting of solenoid valves and feedback positioners.

Plant assembly and routine servicing are simplified by the modular true-union design with ABS union nuts. Stainless steel threaded inserts in the valve base allow secure fastening to brackets or support structures without transferring mechanical stresses into the adjacent pipeline. The z-dimension and the union connections remain backwards-compatible with first-generation Type 546 valves, so replacement needs no pipe modification.
