The Georg Fischer ecoFIT 45 degrees elbow is a socket fusion fitting for high-integrity industrial thermoplastic piping networks. It is produced in PE80 polyethylene, rated SDR 17 / PN10 bar at 20 degrees C, and manufactured to DIN 8074 and DIN 8075. The size range runs from outer diameter d20 mm (DN15) up to d110 mm (DN100), covering industrial fluid distribution, water treatment plants and process chemical installations.

The 45 degrees geometry gives a gradual change of direction along the pipe route, reducing local turbulence, cavitation risk and hydraulic pressure loss compared with a sharp 90 degrees change. Two such elbows also build an offset without loading the welded joints.

PE80 provides chemical resistance against a broad spectrum of dilute acids, alkalis, saline solutions and aggressive industrial effluents, together with high stress-crack resistance and notch toughness. Over an operating range of -40 degrees C to +60 degrees C the material keeps its ductile behaviour even below zero, preventing brittle fracture under static and dynamic hydraulic loads.

Jointing is by socket fusion: the socket of the fitting and the pipe end are heated simultaneously with calibrated welding bushes and tools, then assembled without filler material. The result is a homogeneous, molecularly fused connection with no elastomeric seals and no mechanical leak paths.

Fitting geometry is tightly controlled across the range: external socket diameter Do from 31 mm at d20 to 134 mm at d110, socket insertion depth L1 from 21 mm to 68 mm and overall length Lmax from 46.6 mm to 163.8 mm, giving repeatable insertion stops and uniform melt distribution on site.
