The Georg Fischer ELGEF Plus PE/brass transition adapter is an electrofusion fitting engineered to create a permanent, high-integrity joint between PE100 polyethylene pipework and threaded metal components. Built for SDR11 systems, it is rated for operating pressures up to 16 bar in potable water distribution and 10 bar in combustible gas networks, and is available from d20 to d63 mm with male threads from 1/2" to 2".

The adapter is the standard interface where a buried polyethylene utility main has to meet metal hardware: isolation valves, water meters, pump sets, manifold assemblies and service risers. Because the joint is factory-assembled, it transmits the tightening torque applied to the thread without loading the fusion zone, and resists both axial pull-out and rotational stress in service.

Construction combines a body moulded from 100% virgin, fully compounded PE100 resin in RAL 9005 black with a dezincification-resistant brass threaded end for long-term tightness in aggressive soils and treated water. The electrofusion socket carries 4 mm pin connectors, limited-path fusion indicators for visual confirmation after welding, and integral pipe fixation across the d20–d63 range, which removes the need for external holding clamps during the fusion and cooling cycles.

Dimensional and performance requirements follow EN 12201 for water supply and EN 1555 for gas distribution, with ELGEF Plus system approvals including DVGW, SVGW, KIWA and ACS, plus Track & Trace traceability. PE100 delivers 25 N/mm² yield stress and a 900 N/mm² tensile E-modulus at 23 degrees Celsius, while the non-corrosive thermoplastic body prevents scaling and chemical degradation, supporting an estimated 100-year service life in utility infrastructure.
