The Georg Fischer Type 243 PVC-C pneumatic lug butterfly valve is an industrial quarter-turn solution engineered for automated shut-off and control duties in aggressive process piping networks. Designed for mounting between metric flanges or as an end-of-line isolation unit, this lug-style valve provides secure bidirectional shut-off up to 10 bar (PN10). The valve disc is molded from chlorinated polyvinyl chloride (PVC-C) in agate grey RAL 7038, delivering high resistance to concentrated acids, alkalis, and salts at working temperatures up to 80 degrees Celsius under pressure.

Pneumatic actuation is provided by a robust fail-safe-to-open (FO) drive housed in a corrosion-proof glass-fiber-reinforced polypropylene (PP-GF) casing. The pneumatic cylinder performs a swift 90 degrees rotary actuation within 1 to 2 seconds at a nominal control pressure of 4.2 bar. It features an integrated NAMUR interface complying with VDI/VDE 3845 for direct mounting of solenoid valves and feedback units, complemented by a high-visibility optical position indicator. The fail-to-open mechanism ensures automatic valve opening during air supply failure, making it well suited for essential relief, cooling, and drainage installations.

The outer body is constructed from rigid PP-GF30 composite fitted with stainless steel 316 (1.4404) threaded lug inserts, allowing direct bolting and one-sided downstream pipe removal while keeping upstream lines under operational pressure. Reliable tight shut-off is ensured by premium EPDM or FKM seal profiles that cushion disc contact and resist chemical degradation. Available in metric dimensions from d63 mm to d140 mm, the Type 243 conforms to EN 558 face-to-face dimensions and matches ISO 7005 PN10 and EN 1092 PN10 flanges in chemical dosing, industrial wastewater treatment, and surface treatment facilities.
